Operations
- JWW is currently headquartered in Encino, CA.
- JWW is governed by a Synagogue Advisory Committee is comprised of representatives of each member synagogue and the Chairs of each of its committees.
- Each member synagogue is encouraged to develop a committee of its Board designated as its JWW Committee. Those Committees provide the volunteer resources to implement the events, activities and programs of JWW at their synagogue. It is recommended that the Chair of that synagogue committee be that member's lay designee onto the JWW Synagogue Advisory Committee.
- Synagogue based committees are encouraged to develop ideas, recommendations and strategies for advancing the mission of JWW. However, a synagogue may act on those ideas, recommendations or strategies in the name of JWW only with approval of the JWW Governing Council.
- The money raised through JWW activities, including those activities undertaken by individual synagogues, is raised for the fundraising goals identified by the JWW Synagogue Advisory Committee.
- Funds raised by the member synagogues are held in trust by the synagogue until transferred to the JWW account currently maintained by Valley Beth Shalom synagogue.
- The work of JWW is carried out by volunteers who participate in its committees. Collaboration, communication and cooperation are the cornerstones of the work of JWW. Therefore, the participation of the member synagogues in the committees of JWW is essential. Congregants from the member synagogues are encouraged to join a JWW committee and to seek to ensure representation on each committee of JWW.
- Decisions made by the JWW Committees must be approved by the Synagogue Advisory Committee in advance of implementation of that decision.
