Stand With Sudan Rally - January 9th, 2011 - 01/10/11
200+ activists joined Jewish World Watch and Stop Genocide Now to show support for the people of Sudan and for a peaceful referendum process. We stood in solidarity with all the people of Sudan for the peace, protection and justice that they have long deserved. Our rally was bolstered by the presence and enthusiasm of our JWW youth activists. More than 25 students held a pre-rally event where they made signs, came up with rally calls and marched through Westwood handing out literature before joining the rally. Holding signs and candles, the activists listened to words of inspiration and were challenged to continue the fight against injustice. Against a backdrop of recent video brought back from the Djabal refugee camp by Gabriel Stauring and Katie Jay Scott of Stop Genocide Now, Rabbi Yosef Kanefsky, Father Vazken, Rabbi Scott Perlo, JWW Co-Founder and President Janice Kamenir-Reznik and Gabriel Stauring motivated and moved the crowd to a chorus of rally cries and car horns.
