Project: When Yonah Bromberg Gaber's bar mitzvah was approaching he considered his Torah portion which read, " When you gather your harvest of your land, do not complete it to the corners of your field; and when you gather your harvest, harvest so that the poor and the stranger will have gleanings left for them; I am the Lord your God: Leviticus: 23:22 (Parshat Emor) It resonated with him. He had been introduced to the genocide in Darfur in 2006 and since then had been concerned with the situation. When he discovered the SCP project he said, "I was excited because it aids the refugees from Darfur and because it is a renewable energy, one of my interests." He read Not On Our Watch by Don Cheadle and John Prendergast and watched the movie ‘Hotel Rwanda,’ both of which reinforced his decision to do something to help. He wrote a letter to his family and friends asking them to support the SCP. Mazel Tov Yonah and keep up the good work! Read more »
