Project: We were fortunate to have Indian Summer weather for the Connecticut Folk Festival and Green Expo. Jewish World Watch was the exclusive charity represented at the Festival for the second consecutive year. The Backpack Project's objective dovetailed with the Green Expo's social advocacy objective of providing real solutions for people to live better, healthier lives. $1200 was raised, which will make a positive difference in the lives of others. Project: Some pre-school students ride their tricycles just for fun. The three, four, and five year olds at Kol Tikvah were spinning their wheels to raise nearly $1,000 for the Bialik-Rogosin School in South Tel Aviv. Read more »

Project: Carlie Richman heard about Jewish World Watch on Kol Nidre and immediately started planning. She felt strongly about doing her part to end the genocide in Darfur and loves jewelry. She put the two together and made beautiful pieces she sold to her friends, family and strangers. In a few short months, she has already raised nearly $3,000! Read more »

Project: When Michelle heard about what is happening in Darfur, she knew that being 10 years old was not going to stop her. She organized a Jump4Darfur and raised over $12,000 in just 45 minutes, all while getting kids involved. Read more »

Project: Orley, a teacher at Temple Israel of Hollywood, has gone above and beyond the call of duty. As an organizer at Camp Ramah, Orley has spearheaded JWW summer programs which have inspired countless students to take action back at their schools and their communities. Creative fundraisers have included bake sales and bowling nights, and an advocacy program at City Hall. Read more »

Stephen S. Wise's W Group hosted an amazing party at the premiere LAX club in Hollywood. They raised $4,500 in one night of music, latkes, and raffles. Also, they had everyone sign postcards to send to President-elect Obama. Read more »

Project: Eli Winkelman started baking (amazingly delicious) challah in college. The money she raised from sales went to help end hunger around the world. Four years later, Challah for Hunger is now a national program at ten universities across the country, with more springing up every semester. Fifty percent of proceeds from Scripps and UCLA's sales have been donated to Jewish World Watch. Read more »

Project: Every week, students from across UCLA gather on the 2nd floor of Hillel to make, braid and bake over 100 loaves of challah. They engage students and educate them on atrocities happening around the world, and they sell the bread on campus raising money for JWW's Solar Cooker Project. So far, they have raised over $25,000, and recently they were awarded the Elizabeth Stern Award from the URC at UCLA. Read more »

Project: As six of the students from I.L. Peretz Jewish School of Nassau were preparing for their cultural bnai mitzvah, they took it upon themselves to educate their shul about what is happening in Darfur. Eric Ravens, Ethan Barkin, Stephen Rossman, Jeremy Roller, Harrison Price, and Dylan Davis spoke with their community in East Meadow, NY, inspiring them to get involved in JWW's mission, and helping provide refugee families with solar cookers.
