COMPLETE- JWW ED and Clooney Arrested

On the morning of March 16, 2012, JWW Executive Director  Fred Kramer joined George Clooney, Martin Luther King III, political officials like Congressman Jim McGovern, our partners at United to End Genocide, Enough Project and others in a peaceful act of civil disobedience at the Sudanese Embassy in Washington D.C. to draw attention to one clear message:

Stop Khartoum’s use of “weapons of mass starvation” in Sudan!

The Sudanese government is on the cusp of committing what looks very much like its fourth genocide in Sudan. The Sudanese army has been systematically starving and bombing civilians in the region.  Already-displaced populations have been forced to hide in mountain caves to avoid the bombings, and international humanitarian aid has been blocked wholesale since June. 400,000 Nuba civilians are in danger of starving and urgently need humanitarian relief.

Join Fred in stepping up for Sudan! Take these actions today:

  1. Email Your Member of Congress: Congressman James McGovern (D-MA) and Frank Wolf (R-VA) have introduced H.R. 4169, The Sudan Peace, Security and Accountability Act of 2012 to address grave concerns in Sudan. Email your Representative and urge him/her to cosponsor this important legislation!
  2. Match Fred’s Bail! In honor of Fred’s action today – which required posting a $50 bail – donate  $50 (or any amount) towards Fred’s Walk to End Genocide team! And while you’re already on the Walk to End Genocide page, you may as well go ahead and register for the Walk yourself
